Shooting deer with a 7x64 rifle - Polowanie na kozy z podchodu

The deer were hammering the oilseed rape field a lot, so I went to have a look and shoot a doe or two. Last time I saw 14 on the field, but it was when there was some snow, but the weather changed. It was windy with some sleet changing to rain, but I went to have a look anyway. I knew there was a sheltered spot near the wood. I never managed to get to where I wanted to go as there was one on the field already. I could not get any closer.
It was a buck. I saw 3 or 4 bucks in that spot before, so I thought no luck today, the bucks are coming out and I would not be able to get to the other side of the field. But I was lucky, it was a doe and a doe kid.
I decided to take a doe kid and if possible a mature doe as well. It was windy and they were keeping to the trees, but the buck soon came closer and the does followed him. The rifle was on the sticks, the kid stood broadside, so I set the trigger, pulled... and click! No shot, I forgot to push the safety catch... The deer heard the noise and were about to run, so safety off and this time the rifle fired. The doe kid dropped on the spot, but the mature doe run with the buck and to the wood.
The shot was good behind the shoulder through the heart, but the 7x64 is sometimes a bit too much at short distances and the exit was quite big and fast bullet dragged the liver out through the exit wound....

Gdy zbliża się koniec sezonu na kozy pora dołożyć się do planu i wykonać kilka sztuk. Pojechałem w okolice rzepaku, ostatnim razem zauważyłem tam 14 sztuk. To było na sniegu, ale od tamtej pory pogoda się zmieniła, deszcz, śnieg z deszczem i wiatr. Poszedłem jednak zobaczyć, czy coś nie wyjdzie pod lasem, gdzie mniej wieje.
Nie zdążyłem dojść tam gdzie chciałem zaczekać, bo już jedna sarna była w polu. Rogacz... No tak, pomyślałem sobie - bo poprzednio widziałem tam razem 3 czy 4 kozły. Wychodzą kozły i nie będę mógł się ruszyć. Na szczęście, to co wyszło okazało się kozą z koźlakiem. Dobra nasza!
Wiało i cała trójka pasła się pod lasem, ale po jakimś czasie rogacz poszedł w pole w moją stronę i kozy pociągnęły za nim. Wszystko szło zgodnie z planem, kozy się zbliżały, sztucer miałem na patyczkach i gdy koźlę stanęło do boku, naciągnąłem przyspiesznik i pociągnęłem za spust... No i pstryknęło i nic... zapomniałem odbezpieczyć broń! Oczywiście sarny to pstryknięcie usłyszały i już miały zamiar uciekać, więc szybko odbezpieczyłęm i tym razem sztucer wystrzelił.
Koźlę padło w ogniu a koza z rogaczem uciekła do lasu.
Strzał był dobry ale na niewielkie odległości 7x64 czasem narobi bałaganu...
